We all encounter setbacks. We are going somewhere full-speed and ooops, a rock on our way; a flat tire, an accident, or simply...a bad hair day :-). Depending on the severity of the situation, we tend to reward ourselves to comfort us. For example, if you had a difficult day, then in the night it is more likely you will indulge in a very fatty but so delicious desert. If it happens and you are on a diet, then you are more likely to break it.

So my question is, how can you stick to your goals (e.g., lose weight), when things are getting rough, and you are about to reward yourself by making a bad choice (e.g., eat candy)?

Ever wondered if marriage and grad school are a good or bad combination? Or, maybe you assumed that married grad students are disadvantaged compared to the single ones? Makes sense as relationships take effort to maintain. However, when it comes to marriage, you are wrong!! I just came across a study published by Cornell University (Joseph Price, Department of Economics) that supports that married students actually do better than single students! This study followed 11,000 graduate students from 100 departments over a 20 year period and explored whether graduate student outcomes (graduation rates, time to degree, publications, job placement) differed based on a student’s gender and whether they were married when they entered graduate school.

Recently I come across bucket lists all the time. They tend to be a long to-do list of all the things you want to accomplish in your life, from climbing mountain X, to speaking 4 languages, or having children (see Sean Ogle's example here). Unfortunately, unfulfilled bucket lists, or else unfulfilled dreams, fill our lives with guilt, frustration, or anger. So, I am wondering: How many of these bad feelings can we avoid, by optimizing our bucket lists?

A few days ago life coach Tim Brownson from "A Daring Adventure" announced an offer: a 2-hour session of life coaching plus a 30-min follow-up for almost half the price. To qualify for that you just had to need a little nudge to become unstoppable: feel brilliant but feel you can do a little better with some guidance; or have slight procrastination issues; or just want to learn more about yourself! Contrary, this offer was not for people with serious self-esteem issues, relationship issues, people that have not made the decision to be remarkable, or people that don't feel 100% responsible for their lives, and . You get the idea.

I was intrigued by this offer, as I could recognize that the price was good, plus I was expecting to gain value through the session. On top of that, I have never had a session with a professional from the "therapists/coaches" group, and I was always curious to see how they work. The remaining doubts vanished as soon as I saw that Tim was recommended on Ittybiz. So I applied!

Dating...What a complex subject! Complex, yet everyone is advised to know what they are looking for. Society always sends the concrete message that "you should know what you want": good looks, sincere, honest, funny, smart, good in bed, etc. People tend to pick some of those "shoulds" and advocate that this what they are looking for...

At the same time young people are often accused of not knowing what they want...

1. A friend was talking about a guy she liked, but didn't return her feelings. Well, in the end "it got proven" that he was a jerk, so it's good that nothing happened between them in the first place, right?
2. A famous professor, is so sure of what he is teaching, that he does not see "the holes" in his concept. Of course, a professor of his stature, could never be wrong in something in their own domain! If they are wrong after all, how can they be so famous and respected in the academic society?
3. The early Christians killed the pagans, even though they believed in a religion of "Love thy neighbor as thyself".
